2026-09-16 · 7 min read
This is the weekly roundup of things to do in DFW: real events, real dates, real venues, no hype. Whether you want things to do in Dallas proper or across the wider North Texas metro, I run through what is actually happening every week and give you a straight one-line read on each one.
This week runs Wednesday, September 30 through Sunday, October 4, and it is the fall's fullest weekend yet: the State Fair of Texas hits its second week with drone shows and Kansas on the Main Stage, Celina Oktoberfest takes over the Collin County square, and the Cottonwood Art Festival fills Richardson. Next week brings the White Rock Lake Shoreline Spruce Up, Prosper's National Night Out, and the For Oak Cliff Book Fair. Lineups and schedules change, so double-check before you go, and prices run from free to pricey, so pick what fits your weekend.
